The Gateway Regional Center for the Arts will be a "Gem" for the arts in the Gateway Area! This beautiful historic building will be the home of the Montgomery County Council for the Arts and available to many arts and community groups from around the area.

Built in 1885 this historic building was home to the First United Methodist Church until 2001.

The performance hall will be a place for dance performances, music performances, theatrical performances, recitals, speakers, and so much more!

The Sterling Players Theatre group will be presenting plays that will appeal to children and adults. Already they have performed such favorites as: “The Greatest Christmas Pageant Ever!”, “Steel Magnolias”, and “Scrooge”.

The Gallery for the Arts will be expanding into a space that will be twice its current size. This will enable us to present exhibits featuring larger works under state of the art lighting.

Along with the gallery will be the development of a larger and beautiful Art Shop where local and regional artists may sell their art work. Established as a showcase for artists and presently filled to capacity, this new Art Shop will be featuring more of the talented artists right here in our region.

“Region” is the key word for this facility. We are looking to the future and working to establish an Arts Center that will reach beyond our county borders. Presently our programming is already drawing youth and adults from surrounding counties.

With the future involvement of Morehead State University and other programming we will be reaching many individuals that do not have access to quality arts programming in their own communities.

With this center we will continue to present arts programming that is of the quality that can be found in larger cities around the state.

We will have a center that offers something for everyone right here in our own community!

In the General Info section, you will find listed the basic information and needs in order to develop this wonderful historic building into an Arts Center.

We need the help of everyone in making this vision a reality!
